Zizi

I calmly take in the scene unraveling before my sky blue eyes. I let the steam from my cappuccino carry the perfect smell to my nostrils. I welcome the sweet earthy scent of the perfectly mixed drink warming my hands and bring the rim of the cup to my lips. As I am doing this the first punch is thrown. Perfect. My captors should be preoccupied with this turn of events. However, I need to sneak by all three of them to make this work.

Sneaking by James and Oliver would be easy. They are currently in a fist fight over who is the leader. They get so focused on each other that they lose sight of their surroundings which works in my favor.

Nora would be the one to ruin this for me. She is almost as smart as me. However, I have to admit she is the most attractive woman I’ve ever had the pleasure to lay eyes on. Her sea grey eyes glows with annoyance as she tries to contain the situation. Currently, she is trying to separate the boys. I would call them men but men use their heads, only boys picks fights. Once I finish my delicious cappuccino I set my cup on the table and stroll over to the window with a balcony under it.

I am able to jimmy the window open halfway before it let out a loud creeeeek. I quickly sit my butt on the edge of the windowsill to see if my captors were alerted. Before I even get the chance to fully turn around I feel the hairs on the back of my neck lift as she spots me.

“Going somewhere, Zizi?” The calm of her voice told me it was a question she already knew the answer to. Her walk was more like a swagger that made her body flow like a raging river. Her walk went unnoticed by her partners who were now wrestling on the stone floor.

I paste a smirk on my face to cover the rising panic inside. “Only if you come with me, Nora.” I kept my voice smooth and sweet, placing my hands on my knees. I mostly said this as a way to let her know that I wouldn’t make her chase me since she obviously knew my plan. However her next words almost made me lose my composure.

She tosses a bored look towards her oblivious partners. “If it gets me away from them take me anywhere.” She is now sitting on the ledge next me. So close I could smell her flowery perfume. Being this close to her I can see how her black long lashes flutter slightly as she blinks. They frame her sea foam grey eyes perfectly.

I should say no. This is so obviously a trap. Clearly she is testing me to see how dumb I am. “Follow me,” I heard these two words come out of my mouth but I knew it could not have been me who said them. I am smarter than this. Smarter than to lose my intelligence to an attractive woman. I have seen plenty of woman and men even more attractive than her. I need to pull it together if I want to escape from them. I held out my hand and swung my feet out of the window.

Her eyebrows shoot up with surprise for a moment. She takes one last glance over her shoulder to make sure her partners were still preoccupied. She gave me one nod and took my hand and swung her long legs next to mine.

I can see that the balcony below us connects to a door where we can get to the stairs if all goes well. I’m not sure how the hell I’m going to get rid of her now that she suddenly wants to get away from her partners. Not that I can blame her for that they were starting to give me a migraine. I gave her look and lightly squeezed her hand and nodded to the balcony below. “Jump,” I command as we push ourselves out of the window.

I feel the air rush past my face as we fall to the balcony. As we land she stumbles and bumps into the edge of the balcony. I saw the moment of pure panic in her face before I instinctively put my arms around her pulling her into my chest, so she could regain her footing. “Thanks for the catch. I’m honestly surprised you caught me though.” She spoke slightly breathless taking a step back from me.

“What did you expect me to do?” I ask, letting my curiosity show on my face.

“Let me lose my balance and fall to my death. It would have left you with the opportunity to escape.” She shrugs, “Maybe they have some things wrong about you.” She adds murmuring to herself.

“Maybe they have everything right, but they just haven’t taken the time to learn everything about me.” I pointed out, giving her a smile.

“Would you tell them everything about you if they asked?” She shot back, crossing her arms with a smirk on her lips.

“Would they be willing to understand what I tell them?” I fire back unable to stop myself.

“No, they will never try to understand you. They will only seek to destroy you since you threaten what they have sworn to protect.” Her tone was suddenly serious to let me know she is being sincere. “If I asked would you tell me everything about you?”

I turn my deep blue eyes to hold her grey eyes searching them for any reason to mistrust her. “I would if you are willing to understand and trust me enough to not tell them.” As I speak I knew that I was playing with fire while holding gasoline in my other hand. She held my gaze as she spoke.

“I have been told to not trust you by others. The only information I know about you is what they told me. There is no reason why you should tell me the truth even if you do believe me when I say: I will not tell them what you tell me on this balcony.” She spoke with a firm but soft tone that causes my brain to shut down and let my emotions take control for a moment.

“I’ll give the truth a try. I don’t know why but I’ll give you a chance.” I pause to take a breath in order to collect my thoughts clearing the fog for a moment. “I’m fighting for the people who get over looked by the ones who have very little to worry about. I don’t expect you to understand something like that since you work for them. However, I always have been in favor of the underdog.” I spoke with ease since I did not have to come up with a convincing lie. Telling the truth felt like speaking a foreign language for me.

“What are you talking about? They are about helping people. We are about helping people that’s why I joined. I don’t understand. How can this be the truth?” She stammers while frowning at me trying to figure out if I’m telling her the truth.

“Are you ready for a field trip?” I question with a smirk, wondering if this new approach would actually work.

“Show me.” She commands, her grey eyes gazing straight through me.
