“Just because we can’t find a reason to leave you here we have agreed to help you out.” The gravely voiced man informed me. From the light of their flashlights I could see that they were wearing a type of spacesuit but not any type that I’ve seen before. The suits looked like skin tight armor with a tank attached to the back. Are those space suits? They seemed too thin to hold up to the harsh space but maybe wherever this is they have the technology for it.
“Thank you.” I spoke greatfully while giving them both a smile.
“No need to thank us. You don’t even know who you’re accepting help from.” The gravely voice man shot back.
“You don’t even know who you’re giving help to.” I fired back unable to help myself. Why was I not afraid of these two strangers? It’s not like me to immediately trust strangers, but nothing about them gave off any sign that they would hurt me.
“I like her.” The other man boomed with a chuckle. “My name is Sébastien. What’s your name?”
“Rachel.” I replied then directed my question at the other man, “Who are you?”
“Oliver. Now we really need get going before this planet blows up!” He replied shortly while striding off.
“I’m sorry did you just say that this planet is going to blow up?” I demanded while keeping pace with him, ignoring the pain from my protesting ribcage. “Why is it going to blow up?”
“Yes and because Sébastien and I rigged it up that way.” He answered keeping his short tone. “Still coming?”
“Yes not that I have much of a choice.” I replied wincing slightly as I inhaled a little too much. “But why blow up this planet?”
He stared at me for a moment as he sped up the pace. “Because the species on it are an invasive species and take over planets if they aren’t delt with properly. This planet has fallen too far to be saved so we were sent to blow it up.” Sébastien explained while coming up on the other side of me.
“So is that what you do for a living?” I asked unable to resist finding out more about these two strangers.
“Well technically yes, but we don’t only blow up planets.” He laughed.
I think this was the point where the reality of the situation set in. I felt an uncontrollable bubble of laughter start to rise inside of me. Eventhough nothing about this situation was amusing I couldn’t quell the urge to laugh. I broke into a painful uncontrollable laughter. I’m talking I started to laugh so hard that tears started to stream from my eyes. I was so busy laughing that I hadn’t noticed that we had arrived at their ship.
The ship itself looked like it had a diamond shaped body with two wings on either side. The front of the ship looked more domed and the back was elongated. It looked similar to a spaceship from those space movies. It looked like a decent sized ship to me. Not that I know what normal spaceships look like. The rockets that earth produces look more like penises than anything. This ship was a true beauty. It was clearly built for speed and not fighting. I could see some objects that looks like some sort of weapons.
“What’s so funny?” Oliver asked sounding confused.
“Nothing, it’s just this situation I’m in. I never thought it was possible to appear on a random planet somewhere and find two strangers who are willing to help me.” I explained in-between pauses trying to stifle my laughing fit. I cringed and gripped my side unable to ignore the shooting hot pain stemming from it.
“You seem to be in a noticeable amount of pain.” Oliver commented with tones of concern coated in his voice. As the entrance of the ship opened it revealed a ramp.
“Nothing too bad. I think I might have cracked my ribs when I fell from the sky.” I groaned with a shrug.
“We have a medical scanner on the ship to make sure there’s no internal bleeding. Sébastien offered while leading me onto their ship.
“If it’s no trouble I would really appreciate that.” I answered with a grin as I followed him onto the ship with Oliver close behind.
As soon as we entered the ship we were in a room so small that the three of us had to squeeze together so the door could close behind us. Once Sébastien had pushed in a code to open the door it opened up to a larger room. The inside of the ship was much more spacious than it looked like from the outside. As I took in my surroundings in the front of the ship I spotted the place I could only assume where one controlled the ship from, judging from all of the different buttons and levers. Directly in front of me there was a table with cushioned bench seats on either side of it where I’d assume they would eat/hang out. Off to the left I saw a hallway that continued out of my eyesight.
To be continued….
