Wrapping up the first week of blogging

First of all I wanted to say thank you to everyone who has been reading my stories and liking, commenting, following me so far and for being so patient with me. For wrapping up this week’s dark theme I’ll share with you my one shot scary story. Enjoy!

The Silhouette

I woke with a bolt only to find that I was could not move, feel, or speak. I could only stare at the looming silhouette leaning against my bedroom door frame.

Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeerrrrrkkk. The floor protested as the heavey feet padded into my room. I could hear the hiss of his hands purposely dragging down my bedroom walls. I squeezed my eyes shut then opened them as wide as I could to make sure that this wasn’t a dream.

Once he made his way out of the light from the nightlight in the hall the darkness swallowed his figure and he became one with the night. He reappeared inches away from my face his hood casting a shadow over his face. “It’s time. Come with me.” The low voice hissed from with in the hood.

“Where are we going?” I asked the hooded figure staring at the space where his face would be finding my voice.

“I am here to be your companion to meet death,” the voice drawled.

“What is the name of my companion?” I spoke only curious. I was not afraid of death I wanted to understand it.

“I do not have a name, but I am known by many. If you must call me by a name you may call me the reaper. Come with me. We must start our long journey together.” The soft low voice urged me and the reaper held out his hand.

I took the hand of the reaper and pulled myself up. “Do you ever get lonely?” I heard myself ask unable to stop my curiousity.

There was a long pause before he answered, “I am always alone. I give the dying one last source of comfort by bringing them to meet death, so they are not alone.” Did he sound sad? I must be imagining it.

“Do you have to do this job alone?” I found myself empathizing with the feeling of loneliness, and I suddenly wanted to provide any comfort I could to the reaper.

Silence.

“No, but who would want to walk in the endless void giving comfort to the dying with me? Everyone I have traveled with fears death and tries to avoid it at all cost. Yet, here you are embracing it.” His voice deepened causing him to sound more vulnerable and his head tilted down.

“Death is the best kept secret there is. No one knows what it is like to die. It just happens. Since I have no control over when I die I have no reason to fear it. I could keep you company for a while if we have the time.” I suggested without thinking. I don’t know why I felt sorry for the reaper I just did.

“You’re the most unique soul I’ve encountered in a very long time if not ever and that is saying something.” The voice from under the hood replied in a surprised tone. “Time is not relevant here. I would love the company if you are willing to stay with me.”

I smiled and kept my fingers entertwined with his as we walked farther into the void of nothingness.

And that is how my friendship with the reaper began.

I force my legs to keep moving. I felt a stinging sensation as a tree branch whipped my tender cheek. MyContinue reading “A One Shot”
  • Growth
Finally, I’ve broken through this crumbly, damp, texture I’ve been digging through for months. I’ve been consuming, growing, and digging ever since I can remember. Today is the day I’ve been waiting for. Today is the day that I feel a brand new feeling I came to know as warmth. I let this sensation fuelContinue reading “Growth”
  • Working With The Public Also A True Story
In the past I have talked about some of my truly horrible experiences with working with the public. Now it’s time to talk about the truly amazing people I’ve come across while working with the public. I’ll narrow it down to my top three amazing experiences. 3) At my first job I was seating aContinue reading “Working With The Public Also A True Story”
  • A Halloween Story
This story takes place during a time when Halloween fell on the same night as the second full moon that October. The silvery glow of the moon cast a soft light over the little a-frame house by the lake. The house was built so close to the lake that one could jump off the deckContinue reading “A Halloween Story”
  • Waking Up in Space
Are my eyes open or closed? I thought to myself as I regained consciousness. I blinked really hard. Once. Twice. Still only darkness. Am I blind? Before the panic set in a stabbing pain blossomed on the left side of my chest and throbbed all the way to my right side. Nothing seemed broken. DefinitelyContinue reading “Waking Up in Space”

“Just because we can’t find a reason to leave you here we have agreed to help you out.” The gravely voiced man informed me. From the light of their flashlights I could see that they were wearing a type of spacesuit but not any type that I’ve seen before. The suits looked like skin tightContinue reading “Waking Up in Space (2)”
  • Waking Up in Space (3)
“First time in a spaceship?” Oliver smirked on his way by me to take a seat at the front of the ship. Past his seat there was a huge window. Don’t get the wrong idea when I say huge. This window was the entire front of this ship. “Ahhuh,” I nodded while trying to makeContinue reading “Waking Up in Space (3)”
  • Waking Up in Space (4)
“Is that what you two are calling it? Friendship?” Oliver teased while walking over to us after pressing a few more buttons. “Shut up,” Sébastien grumbled, while turning a darker shade of pink. “I’m just saying when they’re together they act more than friends.” Oliver sassed with a roll of his eyes as he satContinue reading “Waking Up in Space (4)”
  • Waking Up in Space (5)
“You’re doing great. It’s almost done. I knew I couldn’t be the only one who finds the scan ticklish.” Sébastien encouraged me with a smile. I looked up at him and noticed that he had incredibly unique opaque blue eyes. “Thanks.” I chuckled then winced. Now that my adrenaline had started to wear off IContinue reading “Waking Up in Space (5)”
  • Waking Up in Space (6)
“Definitely, just keep it interesting I hate a boring tour guide.” I sassed good naturedly. “Well in that case you better leave the tour to me.” Sébastien chuckled while pulling both Oliver and I to our feet. “Down this hall there are four doors the first one is Oliver’s room. The second door is myContinue reading “Waking Up in Space (6)”
  • Waking Up in Space (7)
I woke up on my side with a blanket on me and my head on a pillow. When I opened my eyes the first thing I saw was the most expensive unbelievable dark black sky with smatterings of various colored lights. There were so many different colors that I had to squint to let myContinue reading “Waking Up in Space (7)”
